7 Steps to your Childs Success
Step 1: Organization
Kids need to be organization, most school-related problems are due to being unorganized. Make a checklist of things your child needs to bring to and from school every day. Get a agenda for your child to have signed by the teacher each day for homework and assignment due. Review the list with him/her each day.
Step 2: Prioritize
A weekly calendar must be created. Make it your basic time budgeting guide. Teach your child the essential skill of prioritizing by asking him/her to write down all the things he needs to do, including non-school-related activities, then rank them in order of importance. Adapt the schedule to changing need. Check off items as they finish them and praise them for each accomplishment.
Step 3: Manage Time
Enforcing time schedules for homework is an effective way of increasing the number of assignments completed. Establish a consistent daily routine for your child to follow after each school day, including a designated time for homework. Monitor their progress.
Step 4: Get Focused
Have a study area or rooms were they can not be interrupted because interruption can disrupt your child’s concentration, which take more time for them to complete assignments.
Step 5: Motivate
Encourage your children to do the very best and let them known that you are expecting them to do well. Acknowledge their efforts, Check off items as they finish them and praise them for each accomplishment and encourage them to learn.
Step 6: Allow Incentives
Allow some after school activities, basketball, football or band will give your child and outlet from class work doing the week. This could help your youth to focus better because there is something that he/she wants to do. Again monitor process
Step 7: Get Involved
Your positive involvement increases homework completion and school attendance, improves your child’s attitude towards school, and decreases the likelihood of behavioral problems. Make appointments to see the teacher and attain your parent-teacher conferences
